Provide or assist senior fee earners in the provision of a wide range of corporate and commercial legal advice in a busy corporate department, with a particular focus on general corporate, banking, regulatory, funds and M&A work, to a mixture of international and local business clients
Work with a degree of autonomy (under supervision as required) on complex legal matters as well as working collegiately as part of a team with other senior lawyers
Develop own legal knowledge and caseload, communicating effectively and building and maintaining strong client relationships
Engage in business development activities to win work from existing and new clients
Contribute to the ongoing development of the Corporate practice area’s precedent database and procedures
Keep up to date with legal knowledge and practice, undertaking research and attending events as part of continuing professional development
Key Professional and Personal Characteristics
Qualified to practice in the UK or similar commonwealth jurisdiction
The ideal candidate will be newly qualified or up to 3 years PQE with experience in a corporate department and a willingness to work on a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial matters
Some commercial property law knowledge would be advantageous, but is not essential
Ability to have a hands-on approach and take responsibility for own caseload (with appropriate supervision)
An analytical and solution driven approach to problem solving
Ability to identify key issues and to draft clearly and concisely in relation to complex legal matters
Ability to be proactive and manage a varied caseload simultaneously and efficiently utilising time and resources
Excellent oral, written, organisational, decision-making and time management skills
