Joshua Black, an associate in the Corporate and Commercial team of Ferbrache and Farrell LLP, has been admitted as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey.

Joshua read History as an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, subsequently studying for the Graduate Diploma in Law with Bournemouth University (via the Guernsey Training Agency) and the Bar Professional Training Course at Manchester Law School. He was called to the Bar of England & Wales in July 2016.

He joined Ferbrache & Farrell in October 2020, having previously worked in-house as Corporate Counsel and in the Dispute Resolution team at another local firm.

Joshua advises clients on a wide range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, asset management, investment funds and general corporate and regulatory issues.

He completed the Guernsey Bar exams in May this year.

Joshua said: ‘I am delighted to be called as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey. I have spent the last decade working in the Guernsey law industry and this marks the culmination of much hard work. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way, and look forward to putting my new qualification to good use.’

Advocate Gavin Farrell, head of the firm’s Corporate and Commercial team, added: ‘It is a real pleasure to have another F&F home-grown Advocate in our practice. It is particularly pleasing for me, since Joshua is the first Corporate Associate to have been called to the Guernsey Bar. We are all very proud of him especially since the process of being called in Guernsey is a long, demanding and arduous one, especially compared to other jurisdictions.’
