Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist senior fee earners in the provision of a wide range of corporate and commercial legal advice in a busy corporate department, with a particular focus on general corporate, banking, regulatory, funds and M&A work, to a mixture of international and local business clients
  • Work with a degree of autonomy (under supervision as required) on complex legal matters as well as working collegiately as part of a team with other senior lawyers
  • Develop own legal knowledge and caseload, communicating effectively and building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Engage in business development activities to win work from existing and new clients
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Corporate practice area’s precedent database and procedures
  • Keep up to date with legal knowledge and practice, undertaking research and attending events as part of continuing professional development

 

Key Professional and Personal Characteristics

  • Qualified to practice in the UK or similar commonwealth jurisdiction
  • The ideal candidate will be newly qualified or up to 3 years PQE with experience in a corporate department and a willingness to work on a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial matters
  • Some commercial property law knowledge would be advantageous, but is not essential
  • Ability to have a hands-on approach and take responsibility for own caseload (with appropriate supervision)
  • An analytical and solution driven approach to problem solving
  • Ability to identify key issues and to draft clearly and concisely in relation to complex legal matters
  • Ability to be proactive and manage a varied caseload simultaneously and efficiently utilising time and resources
  • Excellent oral, written, organisational, decision-making and time management skills
